A steel bridge in Sibalom, Antique was damaged by a passing 10-wheeler truck loaded with sand, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) disclosed on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

In a DPWH Road Advisory, it said that the incident resulted in the closure of the Egaña Bridge to all types of vehicles.
The Egaña Bridge along Hamtic-Bia-an-Egaña-Sibalom Road connects Barangay Egaña and Brgy. Buhang in the town of Sibalom.
The DPWH Antique District Engineering Office advised travelers of a possible traffic buildup due to the ongoing rehabilitation of the bridge.
Motorists and the riding public from Hamtic to Sibalom towns are advised to take the Iloilo-Antique Road as an alternative route and take extra precautions when crossing near the bridge.
“Maintenance crew are deployed for traffic management and installation of warning and directional signs; equipment on stand-by to provide necessary assistance,” the advisory read.
