BLACKPINK's 'Shut Down' debuts on Billboard Hot 100, No. 1 on Global charts

K-pop girl group BLACKPINK continued achieving impressive results on the Billboard charts with their latest album “Born Pink.”

After topping the Billboard 200 with “Born Pink,” BLACKPINK’s new song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 and took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts.

According to Billboard, BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down,’ included in the “Born Pink” album which came out on Sept. 16, entered at No. 25 on the Oct. 1-dated Hot 100 chart, “the highest debut on the chart this week.”

In addition, “Shut Down” and “Pink Venom” grabbed the top two spots on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts.

“Shut Down” is No. 1 on the two charts dated Oct. 1. This is their third song to debut at No. 1 on Billboard Global 200 chart after “Pink Venom” on Sept. 3 and “Lovesick Girls” in October 2020, Billboard added.

“The two global charts, which began in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.,” according to Billboard.

On the Billboard Global 200, “Shut Down” garnered 152.8 million streams and 17,000 downloads from Sept. 16 to 22.

“Now with two Global 200 No. 1s, BLACKPINK joins BTS (six), Justin Bieber and Olivia Rodrigo (two each) as the only acts with multiple leaders since the chart began,” it added.

With “Pink Venom” at No. 2, BLACKPINK became the “first group to place at Nos. 1 and 2 in a single week on the Global 200; soloists Harry Styles (June 4 this year) and Drake (March 20, 2021) previously achieved the feat.”

In addition, “Shut Down” and “Pink Venom” placed No. 1 and 2 on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart.

“‘Shut Down’ concurrently roars in at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 140 million streams and 13,000 downloads sold worldwide in territories outside the U.S. in the Sept. 16-22 tracking week,” Billboard reported.

BLACKPINK became the fourth artist to “to debut atop the Global 200, Global Excl. U.S. and Billboard 200 charts simultaneously.”
