Tulfo wants designated evacuation centers in municipalities to avoid class disruption
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo sought the establishment of evacuation centers in municipalities to avoid crowding in schools that serve as temporary shelters during calamities.

This was said in a press briefing with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Quezon City on Monday, Sept. 26.
The suggestion also targets to avoid class interruption for students since some evacuees who lost their homes because of the typhoon tend to stay longer in schools for shelter, Tulfo said.
"Iyong mga estudyante magsisiksikan sa ibang classrooms (The students will crowd into other classrooms)," he said.
He also emphasized the need to establish evacuation centers in typhoon and flood-prone areas.
"Ang talaga pong dapat sir ay mayroon tayong sariling evacuation center every time para hindi po nadidisrupt 'yung pag-aaral ng mga bata 'pag maganda na ang panahon (It is really necessary to have designated evacuation center so that the classes of the students would not be interrupted once the weather becomes good)," Tulfo added.
Marcos then ordered the DSWD to determine the average duration of stay of evacuees in evacuation centers during calamities.
