China's envoy to the Philippines believes that the relationship between the two countries should be preserved as this is an "inevitable choice for common development."
During the celebration of the 73rd founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China, Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian said Monday that "we should preserve the friendship between China and the Philippines" as it is the common aspiration of the peoples of both nations.
"We should cherish what we have achieved, stay committed to friendly cooperation to ensure that our friendship will last forever," he said in his remark delivered online.

Both countries should also "deepen" their mutual trust to each other to ensure a solid foundation for China-Philippines relations.
This could be done through stepping up communications on bilateral, regional and international issues from a strategic and long-term perspective, Huang said.
Like what the two governments cited as important areas of cooperation—namely agriculture, infrastructure, energy and people-to-people—Huang believed these must be given focus "to ensure steady growth" of both countries.
Amid disputes on the South China Sea, the envoy pushed for proper handling of differences.
"We are neighbors that cannot be moved away and have every reason to live together peacefully. We should put our differences in a proper place and seek peaceful solutions through friendly consultations so that our overall relations will not be affected," Huang said.
With China hosting its 20th National Congress that aims to outline the two-step strategic arrangement for building China into a great modern socialist country, the envoy hoped that the event will also provide new opportunities for the Philippines as far as its relation with the East Asian country is concerned.
"I have full confidence in the prospects of China and China-Philippines relations," he affirmed.
