'Karding' leaves PAR but parts of western PH may still experience occasional monsoon rains

Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru) already left the Philippine area of responsibility at around 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26, but is still enhancing the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 11 p.m. bulletin on Monday that Karding was already at 585 kilometers west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

Karding is moving westward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph) and is headed toward Vietnam.

It has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

In the next 24 hours, PAGASA said occasional monsoon rains are still possible over the western sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.

“Due to the southwest monsoon partly influenced by Karding, occasional gusts reaching strong breeze to near gale strength are also possible until tomorrow evening (Sept. 27) over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas,” it added.

The rest of the country will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Moreover, moderate to rough seas may prevail over the western seaboards of the country.

“These conditions may be risky for those using small sea crafts. , mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions,” PAGASA said.
