ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-6 has distributed a total of P129.78 million in educational aid for indigent students in Western Visayas.

A total of 46,055 students received the cash assistance in six Saturdays – Aug. 20, Aug. 27, Sept. 3, Sept. 10, Sept. 1, and Sept. 24.
Atty. May Rago-Castillo, DSWD-6 information officer, said Iloilo had the biggest slice of the cash aid distributed to the recipients or their parents.
The DSWD released P45.33 million for 14,999 students in Iloilo City and the province of Iloilo, which has 42 towns and the component city of Passi.
Negros Occidental had P37.28 million for 13,292 students.
Capiz had P14.450 million for 5,277 students; Antique, P13.99 million for 4,983 students; P12.59 million for 4, 872 students in Aklan; and P6.12 million for 2,632 students in Guimaras.
