The local government of Pasig City convened an emergency meeting on Sunday morning, Sept. 25, activating its incident command team as the city raised the red alert due to typhoon “Karding”.

“Nasa RED center po kami ng incident management team, naghahanda para sa worst case scenario. Let’s be prepared as we pray for the best (The incident management team and I are at the RED center, preparing for the worst case scenario),” Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said in a social media post.
The command team is composed of the city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), City Engineering Office (CEO), and other offices affiliated with disaster response.
The response operations units have been deployed around the city.

“We’ll be implementing preemptive evacuation in key areas in the city. Evacuation centers are now being set up,” said the local government.
They urged residents to listen and follow to the authorities in case evacuation is necessary.
The CEO has checked and manned the functionality of all pumps in the city as they anticipate flooding in flood-prone areas.
Prepositioning of equipment, food, and non-food items for relief goods are on-going.
Representatives from the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) also joined the meeting, as the local government anticipates incoming concerns regarding possible power outages or interruptions. Merlaco said the public can monitor their official Facebook page for any announcements.
To ensure the safety of students, the city suspended classes in all levels for both public and private schools for Monday, Sept. 26.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed Metro Manila under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 3.
“Heavy to intense with at times torrential rains,” and possible flooding are expected to occur from Sunday afternoon to early Monday morning.
