Farmer confronting neighbor on missing chicken shot dead in Northern Samar
TACLOBAN CITY – A 42-year old farmer who accused his neighbor of stealing his chicken ended up being shot to death on Saturday, Sept. 24, in Catarman, capital of Northern Samar.
The farmer was identified as Leo Jore Espelembergo who was allegedly shot to death by the son of the man he was accusing of stealing his chicken.
The victim, who was a resident of Brgy. Libjo in this town, and the man he was accusing of were summoned by the village officials for amicable settlement, but the parties, according to the police report, refused to come to terms.
Instead, Espelembergo, who was armed with a firearm, even proceeded to the house of his enemy to probably confront.
Police report disclosed that Espelembergo found himself in trouble after he was allegedly shot by Richard Erinco Benesisto, 20.
Benesisto, the son of the victim’s enemy, felt threatened that he was forced to get his improvised shotgun.
Benesisto shot Espelembergo once, hitting him on the neck which resulted in his instantaneous death.
A hot pursuit operation led to the immediate arrest of Benesisto.
Benesisto, together with his weapon, was brought to the Catarman Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
The victim was then brought to a local funeral parlor.
