Man killed, backrider hurt as pick-up truck rams motorcycle in Negros
BACOLOD CITY – A man died while his companion was injured after a pick-up truck collided with their motorycle in Barangay Patic, Pulupandan, Negros Occidental on Friday, Sept. 23.

Staff Sgt. Tirso Flores, traffic investigator of the Pulupandan Municipal Police Station, said that the victim, Pulupandan resident Gilbert Dumasig, 28, was driving the motorcycle with Richard Jamora, 18, backrider, on their way to a bakery in Valladolid, Negros Occidental when the accident happened.
Flores said that the pick-up truck was going to the Pulupandan town proper when the vehicle allegedly overtook a tricycle parked in the area.
However, the driver lost control of the pick-up truck and collided with the motorcycle, Flores said.
The victims were taken to Valladolid District Hospital where Dumasig passed away several hours later while Jamora was transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.
Flores said that Dumasig’s family, through his wife, agreed to an initial settlement with the pickup driver.
