ILOILO CITY – A family of three and a teacher died when a pick-up truck hit their tricycle in Miag-ao, Iloilo on Friday, Sept. 23.

Police identified the victims as Arlene Estorpe, 50, a teacher of the Igdulaca Elementary School in Miag-ao, her 49-year-old old husband Bien, the driver of the tricycle, and 10-year-old child Arbie; and Arlene’s co-teacher Helen Sedicol Olaguer, 45.
The Miag-ao Municipal Police Station said the victims were on their way to the neighboring town of San Joaquin with two others when the driver of the white pick-up truck, Noel Tactica, 25, lost control of his vehicle and hit their tricycle on the national highway in Barangay Oyunga at past 8 p.m.
Police have yet to determine the cause of the accident which happened during rainy weather. Lawmen did not say if Tactica was under the influence of alcohol that time.
Calls for justice and outpouring of sympathies for the two teachers have mounted online following the incident.
Miag-ao Councilor Richard Esposo, who was a student of Estorpe, urged responsible driving in light of the incident.
