Can e-Learning be a 'better choice' for PH students, teachers, and schools?

As the Philippines endeavors to align its education landscape to international standards, there is a greater need to collectively improve the overall system of learning delivery.
To be at par with the rest of the world, the country needs to achieve significant improvements in the education system through the use of new tools to transform teaching and learning processes.
Like in many countries, there is a need for the Philippines to strengthen the use of digital technologies such as e-Learning which has been considered essential in learning recovery and acceleration.
Due to Covid-19, Philippine schools had to utilize e-Learning primarily to ensure educational continuity. However, there is a need to improve how to integrate e-Learning into the whole teaching-learning process.
For FrontLearners, Inc., e-Learning can be leveraged to help improve the teaching and learning process to support the bigger national education agenda.
“We know that all Filipino students, regardless of where they live and study, will be given stronger learning opportunities when supported by e-Learning solutions,” said FrontLearners Inc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elaine De Velez.
Established in 2013, FrontLearners, Inc. is an interactive e-Learning content developer and customized e-school solution provider which aims to help students reach their full potential by helping teachers with more engaging learning materials and freeing more time for them to coach students.
Velez said that the past two years have proven to be quite a challenge for many schools --- both private and public. “Learning recovery and acceleration call for structural changes in the teaching and learning process,” she said.
This, Velez said, is where FrontLearners come in. “We believe in the wonders that e-Learning can bring about in schools and in the ways the children of the future are molded and taught to become competent and at par with students across the world,” she added.
A ‘better choice’
For FrontLearners, e-Learning can become a better choice for students, teachers, and even schools.
Through this, students can learn at their different paces with e-Learning since individualized learning suited to each student’s learning ability and pace can be utilized.
Students can also easily advance and go back to the lessons they have fully understood while the teacher can also be prompted on who needs to be coached or tutored using a specialized e-Learning tool.
“With the benefits of individualized learning, every child will discover the joy and wonder of learning through their own unique experience,” FrontLearners said.
Through e-Learning, teachers can also focus on other important aspects of teaching that cannot be replaced by technology.
With e-Learning, teachers --- who need to spend time preparing for classes by making instructional materials, assessments, and visual aids --- can focus more on lesson planning and reduce a lot of time consumed in lesson making.
“Teachers can also make the best use of classroom hours in engaging with the students and keeping track of their learning progress to keep them motivated,” FrontLearners said. “Given this, teachers can be both effective and efficient, without being overburdened,” it added.
Moreover, schools in remote areas can also have access to the same teaching and learning resources as their counterparts in the cities through e-Learning.
Way to go
Contrary to common belief, the company stressed that e-Learning is not limited to areas with internet connectivity. “E-learning can happen online or offline,” FrontLearners.
For instance, FrontLearners has a patented TeachAid device containing thousands of curriculum-aligned e-Learning content and special learning management tools that work with or without the internet.
With this, schools in cities, as well as schools in far-flung areas can equally have access to the same quality learning materials.
“With e-Learning, high-quality learning materials have never been more accessible and adaptable than ever amidst the many challenges in the country’s educational system,” FrontLearners said.
“To lessen the barriers and to further amplify and empower schools, going digital is the way to go,” it added.
