BACOLOD CITY – Police rearrested two men and seized 675 grams of suspected shabu worth P4.6 million in a buy-bust operation in Purok Riverside, Barangay Bata here on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Police identified the suspects as Erwin Belonio, 34, of Barangay Handumanan here, and Anthony Solon, 38, of Barangay Bata.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) led by Lt. Joven Mogato conducted the operation against the two high-value individuals.
Police recovered the P3,000 marked money and P300 from the suspects.
Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, city police director, said the suspects’ shabu supply reportedly came from Luzon based on information given to lawmen.
Martir said that Belonio and Solon were previously arrested for a drug offense but were released this year through plea bargaining. He added that Belonio also had a homicide case but was able to settle it with the victim.
“We have been doing our operations double time because of the MassKara Festival next month,” said Martir, who claimed that illegal drugs confiscated in their previous operations might be part of the supply for the festivity because of the influx of people.
