DOT to reinforce recovery of film tourism, creative arts

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco on Friday, Sept. 23, underscored the need to reinforce the revival of film tourism and creative arts in the country.

This is among DOT’s commitment to promoting new and existing tourism product portfolios to enhance the tourism industry in the Philippines.

Frasco met on Thursday, Sept. 22, tourism stakeholders and Fil-Am regional associations at the Philippine Center in New York City on the sidelines of the official working visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his economic team to the United States of America.

“The DOT is committed to extending any possible support to stakeholders catering to niche travel groups and markets, including high-impact or upscale travelers, students and youth, wellness, meetings, incentives, conferencing, and exhibitions,” said Frasco.

She also provided an overview of their ongoing ventures anchored on its seven main objectives and three key-point strategies to fulfill President Marcos Jr.'s tourism direction.

Frasco expressed her gratitude to the stakeholders for sharing inputs with the DOT.

She also vowed to support the administration's direction in promoting creative arts in the country.

"We are promoting new and existing tourism product portfolio, particularly the country's film tourism and the arts, especially with the President’s support for the promotion of the creative arts," Frasco noted.

Present during the meeting were representatives from associations and companies such as the Cagayan de Oro-Misamis Oriental Association of New York, Inc.; Cathay Pacific; CEBU Inc.; Fiesta in America; GTT Travel; Korean Air; J3 Marketing and Productions; SAF Travelworld Inc.; Skal International New York; StudentUniverse; St. Michael & Company; Philippine Airlines (PAL); and Virtuoso.

Also joining the DOT were Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in New York Deputy Consul Arman R. Talbo and DOT-NY Attache Francisco Lardizabal.
