80% of tertiary students in Metro Manila schools vaccinated vs Covid-19: CHED
Over 80 percent of students in higher education institutions (HEIs) in the National Capital Region (NCR) have been vaccinated against Covid-19, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-NCR on Thursday, Sept. 22, said.

During the “PinasLakas” booster event at the University of Santo Tomas (UST), CHED National Capital Region (NCR) Education Supervisor Annalyn Diaz said that the commission continues to strengthen its Covid-19 vaccination campaign at the tertiary level.

For CHED-NCR, Diaz said that as of Sept. 22, the vaccination status for non-teaching personnel is at 90.24 percent; teaching personnel at 81.23 percent; and for students at 80.64 percent.
“The mandate of CHED is 100 percent but because of some other reasons like religious beliefs, di po natin magawang (we have yet to achieve) 100 percent but hindi po tumitigil ang CHEd and DOH sa pangangampanya para dito (CHED and DOH are not stopping to campaign for this),” Diaz said.
Diaz explained that CHED will continue its vaccination campaign to ensure that all students as well as teaching and non-teaching in HEIs nationwide will be protected against Covid-19.
“Before PinasLakas, our HEIs already volunteered to [become[ vaccination sites and some others, even the personnel, even out students, especially medical students and allied health already volunteered to do the vaccination,” Diaz explained.
“We are also doing weekly monitoring because every week, the schools are still reporting to us what would be the percentage of the vaccination of our teaching, non-teaching, and students," she explained.
Meanwhile, Diaz said that CHED also continues to conduct monitoring not only for the vaccination status of HEIs but also for the implementation of limited face-to-face classes.
“We are monitoring laboratories and clinics...we see to it that they are handling the vaccination status and cases if ever,” Diaz said in a mix of English and Filipino.
