Dagupan, Villaflor Memorial Hospital forge partnership for early detection of breast cancer
DAGUPAN CITY – Dagupan City entered into an agreement with Dagupan Villaflor Memorial Hospital (DDVMH) to extend the mammography services in the city.

Mayor Belen Fernandez who represented the city government and the members of the Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital (DDVMH) signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the purpose.
According to DDVMH Medical Director Dr. Vivencio Villaflor III, the partnership with the local government is an important step toward an early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases.
The signing of MOA was witnessed via Zoom by Dr. Gregoria Villaflor, DDVMH Board of Director and other doctors, healthcare professionals, frontliners, and administrative officers of said hospital.
Incidentally, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
According to Dr. Rosario Pitargue, Head of the Cancer Institute and Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, they are willing to conduct a lecture to the Barangay Health Workers (BHW) of Dagupan to inform them of the symptoms and appropriate steps in the early detection of cancer of the breast.
A plan to bring the DDVMH medical van to the barangays is also considered so that patients can undergo screening and breast examination.
The Unilab Foundation also expressed its desire to join the city for its health care services, youth, education and community programs.
Mayor Fernandez is eyeing a possible tri-sector collaboration with Unilab and Villaflor Foundation.
