VP Duterte's spox explains transfer to new, 'unified' office

The newly transferred Office of the Vice President (OVP) in Mandaluyong City augurs well for both of its officials and employees because it’s a unified establishment, Vice Presidential spokesman Reynold Munsayac said on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Munsayac spoke in a videotaped message released to the media addressing claims that the new OVP central branch at Robinsons Cybergate Plaza was just a “luxury” office.

He was responding to Mr. Ramon Tulfo’s reposted article claiming that the old OVP at the Quezon City Reception House (QCRH) was rent-free.

“May mga nagtanong po sa amin kung kailangan pa ba talaga na lumipat ng opisina ang (We were asked if we really had to transfer from the old office of the) Office of the Vice President mula sa dating opisina nito sa (in) Quezon City. Sabi ng iba baka luho lang ‘yan. Ang sagot po ay hindi. Hindi po ito luho (Other say that could only be a luxury. Our answer is no. It’s not a luxury),” he said.

The spokesperson explained the new central office aims to streamline the OVP services toward efficiency.

Munsayac also said the establishment of the new central office is aimed at making faster the processing of documents now that the employees are under one roof.

He noted the previous OVP during the time of then vice president Leni Robredo held two offices at the QCRH and another one at the Ben-Lor Building along Quezon Avenue.

The QCRH was Robredo’s main office while the other OVP office was intended for the beneficiaries of its social services program.



“Iyong magpapapirma hindi na kailangan bumiyahe (Those who want their documents to get signed don’t have to travel),” Munsayac said.

“Mas hinangad po namin iyong (What we aim for is) efficiency. Ang problema ho ‘yung iba nagkakaroon ng konklusyon nang hindi naman kumpleto ang kanilang (The problem is the others make conclusion with their incomplete) facts,” he added.

The new OVP central office is located at 11F, Robinsons Cybergate Plaza, EDSA corner Pioneer Street in Mandaluyong City.

It also has seven satellite offices in Dagupan, Cebu, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Davao, Surigao del Sur, and Bacolod.
