'Squid Game' star Lee Jung-jae, Namkoong Min, Kim Nam-gil test positive for Covid-19

“Squid Game” star and Emmy winner Lee Jung-jae, and actors Namkoong Min and Kim Nam-gil have tested positive for Covid-19.

Lee Jung-jae and Kim Nam-gil both tested positive for the virus after returning to South Korea from their overseas schedule.

The two actors attended the 47th Toronto International Film Festival held in Toronto, Canada before flying back to Korea. Lee Jung-jae arrived in Seoul on Sept. 18.

South Korea currently imposes a mandatory PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test for arriving passengers within 24 hours of entry.

"Lee Jung-jae was confirmed positive in a PCR test after returning home on September 18,” said Artist Company, the actor’s agency, said on Sept. 20.

He was supposed to attend the 2022 National Brand Conference awards ceremony in Seoul but canceled it due to his positive diagnosis.

Namkoong Min, who starred in the dramas “Hot Stove League” and “Good Manager,” tested positive through a self-test kit.

His agency said the actor felt mild symptoms in the morning of Sept. 20 and used to self-test kit and confirmed that he was positive for Covid-19.

Namkoong Min was scheduled to attend the press conference for his new SBS drama “One Dollar Lawyer” but the event was canceled after he tested positive.

Kim Nam-gil also tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept. 20.

South Korea recorded 47,917 new Covid-19 cases on Sept. 20 to bring the total confirmed cases to 24.46 million since 2020.

From Sept. 14 to 20, South Korea recorded a daily average of 51,829 new Covid-19 cases.
