Robin Padilla to Filipinos on Martial Law: 'Let us move on, when shall we grow?'

Let us move on.

Senator Robinhood C. Padilla asked this as the nation remembers the declaration of martial law by the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. on September 21, 1972.

The anti-Marcos camp continue to express their pain as thousands died, were tortured, kidnapped or have disappeared, and claimed that the Marcos family has billions of pesos worth of hidden wealth.

Padilla, an actor and producer, said the Marcos family has said they are ‘’sorry.’’

‘’Para sa akig mag-move on na tayo mga anak (In so far as i am concerned, let us move on... my children),’’ he said.

‘’Kung may kasalanan man ang ating dating Pangulong Marcos Sr. hindi po kasalanan ng anak yun (If the late President had sinned, such sin should not be ascribed to his son). wag po tayng ganun (It should not be like that),’’ he added. The son is President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Padilla, a Muslim, said even the Muslim and Catholic faiths believe that the sin of Adam is not our sin.

‘’Ako mismo personally pag hindi tayo naka-alis dyan sa marcos issue na yan at martial law issue na yan (I personally feel that if we cannot live the Marcos issue and martial law issue...),’’he added.

‘’Kelan pa tayo mago-grow (When shall we grow?),’’ he stressed.
