Palace says no new Executive Secretary yet; nominees being considered

There is still no new Executive Secretary to replace Vic Rodriguez, MalacaÃ±ang said.

But there are persons being considered to occupy the post vacated by Rodriguez last week, according to Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles.

"Meron pong mga kino-consider na mga pangalan sa ngayon pero wala pa pong lumalabas na appointment (There are names currently being considered but there is still no appointment being released)," Angeles, who is currently in New York, said in a Facebook live on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Rodriguez announced his resignation from his post on Sept. 17. He also disclosed in his statement that he will continue serving the country as the Presidential Chief of Staff (PCS) which is a new position created through Administrative Order No. 1 signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. over the weekend.

His announcement came days after reports that he was replaced by former Supreme Court chief justice Lucas Bersamin.

The Palace remained silent over the issue until Rodriguez broke his silence. There has been no mention of Bersamin or any candidate to replace Rodriguez, who also served as the President's spokesperson during the campaign period.

Without a head, the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) shall, for the meantime, continue its supervision, control and oversight function over all the agencies and offices under and attached to the Office of the President (OP) pursuant to Executive Order No. 1.
