P500K bounty dangled by Misamis Occidental solon, sibling for whistleblower's killer

Misamis Occidental 2nd district Representative Ando Oaminal and his brother, Ozamiz City Mayor Indy Oaminal are offering a half a million reward to anyone who can help law enforcers capture the killer of local whistleblower and police informant Glenn Hernando.

Hernando was shot and killed on Aug. 30. The gunman was identified as a certain Richie dela Cruz.

“This is a cowardly, condemnable act, and our deepest sympathy goes to the family and friends of Glenn,” the Oaminals said in a joint statement. They've offered a P500,000 reward for the purpose of catching Dela Cruz.

Prior to his death, Hernando provided crucial information to Ozamiz City law enforcement officials regarding the splinter groups and remnants of the organized crime syndicate known as the Kuratong Baleleng Group.

Following the fatal shooting, a team led by Police Maj. Dennis Tano of the Ozamiz City Police Department managed to arrest the apparent getaway driver, as well as another accomplice to the crime.

Reports said Dela Cruz, who was able to escape despite sustaining injuries from a gun fight with cops.

“Our priority right now is to ensure that Glenn’s sacrifice is not in vain, and to make certain that justice will be served swifty and soundly.

"This incident shows that criminals still operate among us, and need to feel the full weight of law enforcement upon them,” the congressman and mayor both emphasized.
