DPWH completes 4 new roads essential to farmers in Cagayan

Four road projects in Cagayan were recently completed and now provide easy access to primary services and faster mobility of trade and goods for local farmers, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported Friday, Sept. 2.

Funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act, the completed road projects added to a total of 2.3035-kilometers of newly concreted access roads and cost P35 million. The projects were implemented by the DPWH Cagayan Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-CSDEO).

The completed projects include a road to a cacao plantation and processing areas in Barangay Cabatacan East; Malinta-Gabun Brgy. Road; and San Pedro Magsaysay-Cabatacan West Brgy. Road connecting a banana plantation located in the town of Lasam.

The other project is located in the town of Abulug, an access road leading to the agri-business industry like aquatic resources, livestock, vegetable, and coconuts serving Brgy. Sto. Tomas.

District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran said that aside from benefiting farmers, the road projects will also help local folks by getting better access to economic opportunities and government services.

“By providing necessary infrastructure to support the people’s livelihood, we are assured of the development that will help alleviate the lives of residents within these communities,” Gumiran noted.
