Classes in Muntinlupa, Pateros, Taguig suspended due to yellow rainfall warning
The local governments of Muntinlupa, Pateros and Taguig suspended classes Friday afternoon, Sept. 2, due to the yellow rainfall warning issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

According to the Department of Education’s Order No. 37, “In-person and online classes in all levels are automatically cancelled in schools situated in LGUs issued with Yellow, Orange and Red Rainfall Warning by the PAGASA.”
“If the Warning is issued at a time when classes have already begun, the school shall immediately suspend the classes and work and send everyone home, if it is safe to do so. However, schools are obligated to keep the students and personnel safely in school if travelling has become unsafe,” it read.
It added, “Local Chief Executives shall decide on the cancellation or suspension of classes in cases where there are torrential rains in specific or all areas of the LGU but is not issued a Heavy Rainfall Alert by PAGASA.”
“Nagdeklara na ng Yellow Rainfall Warning ang PAGASA, at ayon sa DepEd Order No. 37, Series of 2022, maaari nang mag-suspend ng classes (PAGASA declared a Yellow Rainfall Warning and according to DepEd Order No. 37, Series of 2022, classes can now be suspended),” Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon announced.
He added, “Habang hindi pa pumapatak ang ulan, ating sinususpinde na ang pasok sa lahat ng antas ng paaralan—pre-school, elementary, junior high school, senior high school at college, pampubliko at pribado sa Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (While the rain has yet to fall, we are suspending classes in all school levels - pre-school, elementary, junior high school, senior high school and college, public and private in the City of Muntinlupa).”
The Taguig City government announced, “Based on the guidelines released by the Department of Education thru DepEd Order No. 37 Series of 2022, CLASSES IN ALL LEVELS (PUBLIC AND PRIVATE) in Taguig City are AUTOMATICALLY SUSPENDED today, Sept. 2, 2022 due to the YELLOW WARNING issued by PAGASA. At 1:15PM, DOST PAGASA issued a heavy rainfall YELLOW warning over Metro Manila and adjacent provinces. The weather bureau warned of possible flooding in flood-prone areas.”
The office of Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III also said classes in all levels have been suspended due to the yellow rainfall warning by PAGASA.
