Top collegiate teams National University and College of St. Benilde pose as the biggest contenders in the maiden season of the Shakey's Super League which will fire off on Sept. 24 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.
With the opportunity to cross each other’s paths on the court, the Lady Bulldogs of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Lady Blazers of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines will compete for the title along with the other 16 teams.
The tournament will be divided into four pools for the elimination phase with the top two teams from each group advancing to the playoffs for a crossover quarterfinals.
St. Benilde team captain and reigning MVP Mycah Go is excited to take part in the league as it will prepare them for the next NCAA season.
“Wala naman pong dapat ika-pressure kung ganyan. Kasi for us naman, lahat po ng teams naglalaro, nagte-training. So, gano’n lang din po ‘yong gagawin namin. Same lang din with everybody. After kasi ng championship sa NCAA, wala na, mina-mindset namin lagi na back to zero kami,” said Go.
