Army establishes patrol base in forest reserve in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY – The Philippine Army has established a new patrol base in a forest reserve in Barangay Igtuble, Tubungan, Iloilo.

The base will be put up in a 600-square meter lot donated to the Armed Forces of the Philippines by the local government unit (LGU) of Tubungan.

“This is a manifestation that the goal of inclusivity in combating the decades-long insurgency in the country is achieved,” said Brig. Gen. Marion Sison, commander of the 301st Infantry Brigade (IBde), during the signing of the MOA for the donation with Tubungan Mayor Roquito Tacsagon.

The Igtuble Patrol Base Detachment will be under the operational control of the 61st Infantry Battalion (IB), a unit under the 301st IBde.

The creation of the Igtuble Patrol Base Detachment is expected to boost peace and security efforts by preempting New People’s Army (NPA) rebels from gaining ground in the area.

Also present during the MOA signing were Regional Director Livino Duran of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Col. Adrian Acollador of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), Lt. Col. Harold Garcia of the 61st IB, Tubungan Vice Mayor Leo Taypen, and barangay officials.
