TACLOBAN CITY – A two-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a truck in Tanauan, Leyte registered under the municipality of Dulag, Leyte on Friday, Sept. 16.
The victim's mother told police they were parked in the parking lot of a store beside the national highway in Barangay Cabuynan.
She crossed the road to buy pizza while her husband went inside the store to buy stuff for their son, who was left unattended inside their vehicle.
The boy allegedly opened the back door and suddenly crossed the highway towards his mother.
He was accidentally hit by the truck bound for Dulag from Tacloban City.
The victim was taken by his parents to the Schistosomiasis Hospital in Palo, Leyte where he was declared dead on arrival (DOA) by the attending physician at around 10:30 a.m.
The 68-year-old driver of the six-wheel dropside truck surrendered and reported the incident to the Tanauan Municipal Police Station.
