Police to impose tighter security in Cebu City public schools due to gang violence
CEBU CITY – Police will tighten security in public schools here to avert violence between two warring youth gangs.
The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said members of “Bloods” and “Crips” were involved in a recent stabbing incident at the Mabolo Night High School.
Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, CCPO Deputy City Director for Operations, said a member of Crips was wounded after he was stabbed by a member of Bloods.
On Thursday, Sept. 14, a group of teenagers went to the Regino Mercado National Night High School in Barangay Pahina Central to maul a student.
Several atrocities have happened in this city involving Crips and Bloods and as a result, police will be deployed outside some public schools to prevent the two gangs from creating trouble.
The CCPO has also ordered police stations here to coordinate with administrators of public schools to discuss the matter.
“Now that the face-to-face classes are back, these two groups are recruiting members again. We have to coordinate with these schools to find out if gangs exist in their campuses,” Parilla said.
