Pangasinan electric coop clarifies as erroneous shocking P1.4 M bill to consumer
SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan -- The Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco) apologized to a consumer whom it billed P1.4 million for a monthly use of electricity.
In a statement issued on Friday, Sept. 16, Cenpelco clarified that the P1.4 million bill it sent to a consumer in Aguilar town was a case of meter reading error.
The erroneously entered meter reading data for the September 2022 bill amounting to P1,473,533.36 was adjusted to P1,334.43, and the same was already set to the consumer.
The management claimed that this incident was isolated and purely human error.
Cenpelco noted the meter reader error and that it has no intention to deceive the consumer.
"We would like to express our earnest apology to the affected consumer and to the public for creating such confusion,” the Cenpelco management said.
“Rest assured that the same incident will be avoided in the future," it added.
