Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon reminded people to be responsible and follow guidelines following the issuance of an executive order by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that made the use of face masks outdoors voluntary.

Malacañang issued Executive Order No. 3 on Sept. 12 mandating that “the voluntary wearing of face masks in open spaces and non-crowded outdoor areas with good ventilation, is hereby allowed, provided that not fully-vaccinated individuals, senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals are highly encouraged to wear their masks, and physical distancing will be observed at all times.”

It added that “face masks shall continue to be worn in indoor private or public establishments including in public transportation by land, air, or sea, and in outdoor settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained.”

“Lagi po nating tandaan na nandito pa rin ang panganib ng #COVID19, kaya maging responsable po tayo at sundin ang guidelines sa pagsusuot ng face mask at ibang health protocol (Always remember that the danger of #COVID19 is still here, that is why we have to be responsible and follow guidelines in wearing face mask and other health protocol),” said Biazon.

In a one-week tally from Sept. 9 to 15, the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) recorded 221 new Covid-19 cases, a decrease of 14 percent compared to 258 new cases from Sept. 2 to 8.

From Sept. 1 to 15, Muntinlupa recorded a total of 495 new Covid-19 cases.

Dr. David Guido of OCTA Research reported on Sept. 16 that the weekly Covid-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) increased to 14.5 percent as of Sept. 14 compared to 12.7 percent on Sept. 7.

The one week growth rate of new cases in NCR was 18 percent, compared to negative four percent the previous week.

Healthcare utilization for Covid-19 in the NCR increased to 39 percent with 2,522 beds occupied as of Sept. 14 from 36 percent with 2,319 beds occupied as of Sept. 5.
