Jessy Mendiola shares bout with COVID-19 amid pregnancy

Jessy Mendiola has come out to reveal via a vlog that she tested positive for COVID-19.

It was quite a scare she said, noting how it happened at the fifth month of her ongoing pregnancy.

"After almost 3 years of being so paranoid and careful… I tested positive for Covid-19 last Sept 3. I had symptoms and, for me, it was the hardest 11 days of my life. It’s my first time to get infected with the virus. I never thought I would get it while 5 months (and 3 weeks) pregnant," she wrote as caption to her post.

According to Jessy, she came out with it simply because she wants to spread awareness that the virus is still "very much around."

"I’m sharing this difficult experience with you because I want to spread awareness that Covid-19 is still very much around. Even if protocols are easing up and there already is a mandate allowing people not to wear masks outdoors.. I hope we still protect each other in our own little ways."

In her vlog, Jessy documented how she spent the 11 days she was in quarantine.

Among the symptoms she got were sore throat, cold, headache, fever, and body pain.

She related, "Sa mga preggy mommies/ladies, I’m sure makaka-relate kayo dito.. ang hirap pala talaga magkasakit kapag alam mong may dinadala ka sa iyong sinapupunan hindi dahil sa sarili mo, pero dahil magaalala ka talaga para sa baby/anak mo at siyempre para sa asawa mo."

She also thanked everyone who gave her lots of assurance and positive vibes through comments.

"MARAMING SALAMAT. Your words of encouragement means a lot to me. I’m glad to know na hindi lang ako ang sobrang naapektuhan sa kakaalala kung ok lang ba si baby Peanut," she related. "Minsan talaga, hindi maiiwasan, kailangan padin lumabas at magtrabaho. I’m really grateful na I recovered quickly. Thankful ako dahil ginabayan ako ng doctor ko, inalagaan ni @luckymanzano at hindi ako pinabayaan ni Lord."

"Things happen for a reason, kaya siguro nangyari ito sakin para mas patibayin pa loob ko maging isang nanay soon. Maraming salamat sa love & prayers, everyone! I’m 100% okay now. Thank you thank you thank you!"
