VP Duterte unsure of attending UN education summit in New York
Vice President and concurrent Education secretary Sara Duterte might not grace the Education Summit to be held in New York this month, her spokesman said on Thursday, Sept. 15.

During a press briefing, Vice Presidential Spokesman Reynold Munsayac revealed that Duterte is unsure about attending the summit.
“Sa mga huling (In our last) conversations namin mukhang—baka hindi matuloy ang ating vice president lalo na po kung yun ating Pangulong Bongbong Marcos andun sa New York nang mga panahon na ‘yun (it looks like—our vice president might not go especially if our President Bongbong Marcos is already in New York that time),” he told reporters.
The “Transforming Education Summit” will be held in New York during the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Sept. 16, 17, and 19.
It aims to mobilize action, solidarity, and solutions to transform education between now and 2030.
The Summit will be convened by the UN Secretary-General.
Marcos is expected to attend the UNGA. On the sidelines, he will meet with the Filipino community, foreign leaders, and businessmen.
The Vice President is the designated officer-in-charge when Marcos is on official trips abroad.
She took over as government caretaker following Marcos’ state visits to Singapore and Indonesia earlier this month.
