CEBU CITY – A group of tourist guides has opposed the construction of beach houses in Barangay Lambug, Badian, Cebu.

The Lambug Tourist Guide Association complained that they have been restricted from accessing a certain area when the construction of beach houses started.
Noel Aragoncillo, president of the Lambug Tour Guide Association, said there is a certain area in the coastline of Lambug that is a favorite spot of tourists for its picturesque view.
“Before, some guests can go to that area for pictorials. It is a great spot because of fine sand and there is also a rock formation which is nice for picture takings. But now the road going there has been blocked because of the construction,” said Aragoncillo.
Aragoncillo said they have sent a letter to Badian Mayor Carmencita Lumain to help them address their concern but they have yet to get a reply.
He said the group also plans to bring their concern to the central office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Quezon City and if possible, to the Senate.
Aragoncillo added some residents in the area have also complained that the road right-of-way was blocked when a fence surrounding the beach houses was constructed.
Lumain has issued a cease-and-desist order against the owner of the property after the Office of the Building Official in Badian discovered that the construction had no permit.
Another violation that the OBO found out was that the beach houses were constructed within the 20-meter easement zone.
