Manila North Road in Pagudpud still closed to all types of vehicles due to landslides

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- The Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office said that Manila North Road, Kilometer 578+800, Sitio Banquero, Barangay Pancian, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte is still closed to all types of vehicles.

The road is still under clearing operation after a major landslide.

The Department of Public Works and Highways in region 1 announced an alternate route from Ilocos Norte to Region 2 via Ilocos Norte-Apayao Road & vice-versa.

For 4x4 vehicles only, the following are the alternate routes:

Tuguegarao via Conner Apayao road-Kabugao, Apayao-Calanasan, Apayao-Solsona Ilocos Norte;

Claveria, Cagayan-Calanasan Junction Namaltugan going left to Kabugao Apayao, going right to Solsona, Ilocos Norte (one lane passable-due to ongoing project).

The DPWH-Reg. 1 also announced the need to pass three rivers.

One river crossing has a standby loader to assist motorists while the two other river crossings are passable with caution.

Motorists are advised to take safety precaution while travelling the alternate routes.
