DPWH: Road leading to tourist spot in Quirino close to completion

MADDELA, Quirino – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Quirino District Engineering Office has announced that a road leading to a popular tourist attraction here is almost complete.

It said that it has finished the concreting of a 400-meter portion of a gravel road going to the Governor’s Rapids.

According to the DPWH, out of the six-kilometer road, 4.529 kilometers have been concreted for a 75.48 percent accomplishment rate.

The remaining unpaved portion has been proposed under the 2023 Infrastructure Program of the district.

“The DPWH and Department of Tourism convergence initiative provides access towards the promotion of various tourist destinations nationwide. While the project is still ongoing, the integral purpose being an access to Governor’s Rapids is already functioning as the project is now benefiting the community-farmers in transporting their local goods such as corn and banana,” Asuten said.

The P10-million Convergence and Special Support Program flagship project under the agency’s Multiyear Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) funded from the General Appropriations Act of 2022 covers the concrete paving of two-lane road with shoulder and construction of concrete retaining wall as slope protection structure.
