CEBU CITY – Seventy-two drug personalities were arrested in a one-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) in Cebu from 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, to 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
Lt. Col. Mark Gifter Sucalit, deputy provincial director for operations of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), said that aside from the 72 arrested drug personalities, packs of suspected shabu amounting to P1.4 million were also seized.
“In one day, a total of 64 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted all over the province,” Gifter said in a press conference on Wednesday.
Various police units in Cebu also conducted 41 anti-illegal gambling operations that led to the arrest of 69 persons and confiscation of P10,136 cash bets, Sucalit said.
In the 94 operations against loose firearms, four persons were arrested while 98 unlicensed firearms were seized.
“Twelve ‘Oplan: Katok’ operations were conducted that resulted in the surrender or turnover for safekeeping of 19 firearms whose licenses were not renewed or expired,” said Sucalit.
Sucalit added that 94 arrest warrants were served and 91 wanted persons were arrested, five of whom are most wanted persons.
“Fortunately, all of our troops were safe and sound during the conduct of SACLEO,” said Sucalit.
Sucalit said the CCPO, headed by officer-in-charge, Col. Rommel Ochave, credited the public for the successful conduct of SACLEO.
“Our CPPO chief is really acknowledging the help of the community. The success was because of the information that the community is giving,” said Sucalit.
