PCSO remits P2.5 billion to Treasury as support for UHC law
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has remitted P2,579,628,288.23 to the Bureau of Treasury as support to the country's Universal Health Care (UHC) program.

"These funds will be transmitted to the treasury and remitted to PhilHealth through the national subsidy for benefit improvement," said Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Spokesperson Shirley B. Domingo at the turnover ceremony on Monday, Sept. 12 held in Malacañang.
PhilHealth, which implements the UHC law in the country, will allocate the budget for the review of the department's existing case rate and additional dialysis sessions for members, Domingo said.
It will also be utilized for additional orthopedic and catastrophic benefits for members, she added.
"This is just the first among the remittances that we will do because, under the law, 40 percent of our charity fund will have to go to universal health care," said PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles who personally handed the check to Domingo.
The said amount came from PCSO's Charity Fund for the 4th quarter of 2021 up to the 2nd quarter of 2022.
The Universal Health Care Act or Republic Act No. 11223 was signed into law by former President Duterte on Feb. 20, 2019.
It automatically enrolled all Filipinos under PhilHealth and promotes the right to affordable and quality health care services.
