The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Tuesday, Sept. 13, that it has trained officers of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Cebu in water patrol operations to boost their capabilities against at-sea smuggling.

The water patrol training for officers of the bureau’s Water Patrol Division and Customs Police Division was jointly organized by the personnel of the PCG Special Operations Group in Central Visayas (SOG-CV) and fast patrol boat BRP Malamawi (FPB-2403) in the vicinity waters of Mandaue City, Cebu.
“The said training equipped the students with knowledge in water patrol operations including proper boarding procedures and navigation protocols in the waters of Central Visayas,” said Commodore Inocencio Rosario Jr., commander of Coast Guard District Central Visayas.

The PCG has regularly conducted water patrol training to Customs officers as part of their commitment to enhance border security in the country.
Last year, the PCG also trained Customs officers in water patrol operations, particularly in basic navigation, boat handling and maneuvering, and boat operations and maintenance.
Lawyer Charlito Martin Mendoza, district collect at Port of Cebu, thanked the PCG trainers and presented them with a Certificate of Appreciation as a sign of the bureau’s gratitude to their “support for the continuous growth of personnel.”
