Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives arrested a man for firing his gun that caused alarm and fear among residents along Quezon Avenue, Barangay. Sta. Cruz, in the city on Monday evening, Sept. 12.
The QCPD identified the suspect as Richard Elloso, 44, an accountant, from the same barangay.
Responding QCPD Masambong Station (PS 2) personnel immediately went to the area after they received a telephone call from Barangay Sta. Cruz officials regarding the incident.
According to the police report, barangay officials stated that some concerned citizens reported to them after they heard a gunshot at around 8:30 p.m.
In an ABS-CBN News report, police were able to verify that the suspect is one of the residents in a residential building in the area. Authorities also discovered that the suspect is in possession of other types of firearms.
QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III andmembers of the District Special Weapons and Tactics (QCPD-SWAT) went to the area and convinced the suspect to peacefully surrender.
Seized from the suspect were four pieces of assorted short firearms, a cal. 1025 shotgun, 19 short firearm magazines, three shotgun magazines, and assorted live ammunition.
The suspect is facing charges for violations of Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code (Alarms and Scandal) and Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act, police said.
