Parañaque Rep. Olivarez leads TUPAD beneficiaries orientation

At least 1,000 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program underwent orientation conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the office of Parañaque 1st District Rep. Edwin Olivarez on Monday, Sept. 12.

According to Olivarez, TUPAD project dubbed “PaoTUPAD ni Kuya Edwin” was launched in partnership with the office of 1st District Councilor Pablo “Pao” Olivarez II to employ the residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Olivarez said the beneficiaries will be deployed to public schools and day care centers for 14 days with a compensation of around P8,000.

After 14 days of work, the beneficiaries will be given certificates which they can use as one of their credentials when they seek employment in the future.

The congressman said his office will have a monitoring system under Eva Nono, which prioritizes the TUPAD beneficiaries who are looking for permanent jobs.

Olivarez said his office also had a memorandum of agreement with different manpower agencies for the employment of TUPAD beneficiaries.

Councilor Olivarez said beneficiaries who will be deployed to day care centers will serve as teacher assistants.

“We are really grateful to the DOLE for partnering with us to provide emergency employment to our constituents during this time of economic difficulties brought about by the pandemic and other external factors beyond our control,” Rep. Olivarez said.

A total of 320 TUPAD beneficiaries were already deployed to different public schools in the city.
