P3.4-M marijuana destroyed in Ilocos Sur-Benguet

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Marijuana valued at P3.4 million was destroyed in a joint eradication operation in the boundaries of Ilocos Sur and Benguet.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-La Union Provincial Office (PDEA-LUPO), PDEA-Ilocos Sur Provincial Office (ISPO), Police Regional Office 1-Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (PRO 1-RDEU), and other law enforcement units conducted the operation from Sept. 8 to 9.

PDEA-Region 1 Director Ronald Allan DG Ricardo said they uprooted 14,750 fully grown marijuana plants and 12,000 marijuana seedlings in four plantation sites with a total land area of 2,150-square meters in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur and Bakun, Benguet.

PDEA-Region 1 said that the uprooted marijuana were burned on site.
