Magnitude 5.7 quake recorded offshore of Davao Oriental

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.7-magnitude earthquake offshore of Davao Oriental Monday afternoon, Sept. 12.
Phivolcs said the quake struck 173 kilometers (km) southeast of the municipality of Tarragona in the province of Davao Oriental at around 4:14 p.m.
The earthquake was felt at Intensity III (weak) in Tarragona, Davao Oriental; Intensity II (slightly felt) in Davao City,Mati City, Manay, and San Isidro in Davao Oriental; and Intensity I (scarcely perceptible) in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.
Its instruments also recorded the tremor at Intensity II in Malungon, Sarangani and Intensity I in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro; Alabel, Sarangani; Koronadal City and General Santos City, South Cotabato; and Davao City.
Phivolcs advised the public to stay vigilant as aftershocks may occur.
