Disney live-action movies

Following the success of past reimaginations of its classic animated films such as “The Lion King,” Cinderella,” and “Aladdin,” Disney presents its latest live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid.” Slated to be released on May 2023, the movie features Halle Bailey as the mermaid princess Ariel. Also part of the entertainment giant’s roster of upcoming live-action movies is “Mufasa: The Lion King,” the prequel to the beloved “The Lion King,” to be released in 2024.

Disney+

To be released on its streaming platform this year are sequels “Hocus Pocus 2” and “Disenchanted” on Sept. 30 and Nov. 24, respectively. While fantasy adventure film “Peter Pan & Wendy” has yet to announce its release date in 2023.

Marvel

Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans can expect more actions to come from the epic movie franchise with the arrival of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” the film that will close MCU’s Phase 4.

Opening Phase 5 is the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” which will hit the theaters on Feb. 17, 2023. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return as Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne as they explored more of the Quantum Realm.

Actor Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson is set to headline “Captain America: New World Order,” to be released on May 3, 2024.

During the Walt Disney Studios - Lucasfilm & Marvel Studios Presentation at the expo, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also announced the coming of a “Fantastic Four” film, to be led by director Matt Shakman. Although its cast is yet to be revealed, the film is already set to premiere on Nov. 8, 2024.

Closing MCU’s Phase 5 offering is “Thunderbolts.” Its cast includes David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Hannah John-Kamen, and Olga Kurylenko, and is set to premiere on July 26, 2024.

20th Century

"Avatar: The Way of Water" is set to bring viewers to Pandora’s underwater world. This sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster movie is set to hit the theaters this December.

Lucasfilm

Harrison Ford reprises his role as the famous archeologist in an upcoming “Indiana Jones” movie. The fifth film of the action-adventure film franchise will premiere on June 30, 2023.
