CEBU CITY – The Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ) on Sunday, Sept. 11, hosted another round of shooting competition dubbed “Shoot for a Cause” at the Front Sight Gun Club in Barangay Tubod, Minglanilla, Cebu.

Close to 100 gun enthusiasts joined the event, which served as fund-raising activity of CFBJ, an organization composed of at least legitimate 100 media workers from various news outlets in Cebu.
Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia graced the event which was held in cooperation with the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Central Visayas (BJMP 7).
PRO 7 director Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega and BJMP 7 chief Jail Chief Supt. Efren Nemeño were the other invited guests.
It was the second shoot for a cause that CFBJ has hosted. The first was held in 2020 in Lapu-Lapu City.
“I would like to congratulate the CFBJ. You really work hard for this,” said Garcia.
Arnold Bustamante, president of CFBJ, said proceeds of the event will be used to fund the organization’s health and emergency assistance program for its members.
“There are media workers readily help but they themselves need help because we know that those come from smaller new outfits have meager salary,” said Bustamante.
Bustamante thanked Garcia, Roque, Nemeño, and the sponsors who made the event possible.
The competition was also part of the series of activities for the Press Freedom Week, which is being celebrated by Cebu-based media every September.
