ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat – Police on Saturday, Sept. 10, arrested a mayor from Maguindanao who is facing murder charges in a hotel in Davao City.

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region arrested Khadafe “Toy” Mangudadatu, mayor of Pandag, Maguindanao, on a warrant of arrest for two counts of murder in 2010.
Khadafe is the younger brother of former Maguindanao Gov. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu.
Mayor Mangudadatu allegedly killed couple Abdullah and Lala Ligawan on Oct. 17, 2010 in Barangay Sinakulay, President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat.
Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat Regional Trial Court Branch 20 Judge Samina Sampaco Macabando Usman issued the arrest warrant on Friday, Sept. 9, against Mayor Mangudadatu and other accused, including brothers Freddie, former mayor of President Quirino, and Jong Mangudadatu, former mayor of Buluan, Maguindanao.
The Mangudadatus had claimed that the murder was politically motivated and instigated by the camp of former Sultan Kudarat Gov. Teng Mangudadatu whose wife Bai Mariam is the incumbent governor of Maguindanao.
Toto ran for governor of Maguindanao in the last election but lost to Bai Mariam.
Teng and Toto are cousins.
Khadafe was taken to a hospital after he complained of difficulty in breathing after he was arrested.
