3 former NPA fighters graduate from ALS in Negros Oriental

BACOLOD CITY – Three former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels completed basic education through the Alternative Learning System (ALS) in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Thursday, Sept. 8.

The Army said they were taught basic mathematics, values education, skills enhancement, and reading.

Their graduation and moving-up ceremony with the theme “Gradweyt ng K to 12 Masigasing sa mga Pangarap at Matatag sa mga Pagsubok” was held in Barangay Poblacion.

They finished ALS through the partnership of the Army 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB), Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Guihulngan City, and Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (GCTF-ELCAC).

The Army said that it was a stepping stone for the former rebels to achieve their dreams.

They are now ready to enroll and face higher level of education that will build foundation of their future career, the Army added.
