The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the office of Parañaque City 1st District Rep. Edwin L. Olivarez started the screening of applicants for the second batch of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
Rep. Olivarez’s staff assisted DOLE personnel in the profiling of applicants on Friday, Sept. 9 at the Parañaque City Sports Complex.
Olivarez said around 1,000 hopefuls showed up for screening to become part of the TUPAD program grant from 8:00 a.m. up to noon time.
He said 320 of the first batch of TUPAD beneficiaries processed by Rep. Olivarez’s office will be deployed to their work assignments on Monday, Sept. 12.
Under the emergency employment program, displaced and disadvantaged workers will be assigned to communities where they will work for 14 days.
Olivarez said each beneficiary will receive close to P8,000 after the completion of their deployment.
He said they are expecting to deploy another 1,000 beneficiaries in the coming weeks as their partnership with DOLE continues.
“We are really grateful to the DOLE for partnering with us to provide emergency employment to our constituents during this time of economic difficulties brought about by the pandemic and other external factors beyond our control,” Olivarez said.
The congressman said the project, which they called as “PaoTUPAD ni Kuya Edwin” is also in partnership with the office of 1st District Councilor Pablo “Pao” Olivarez II
