Over 17 million learners enrolled so far for SY 2022-2023 – DepEd
The number of enrolled learners for the School Year (SY) 2022-2023 has climbed to 17,900,833, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

The enrollment period for the upcoming SY began on July 25, 2022. Of the more than 17 million enrolled students for basic education, 1,186,012 were Kindergarten, 8,235,937 Elementary, 5,789,747 Junior High School, while 2,689,137 were Senior High School learners.
CALABARZON, with a total of 2,604,227 enrollees, has the highest enrollment rate so far. It was followed by Metro Manila with 2,020,134 enrollees to date.
“Magpapatuloy ang enrollment hanggang sa Agosto 22,2022. Tandaan na mayroon tayong tatlong pamamaraan sa pagpapatala: in-person, remote, at dropbox enrollment. Ang ating mga Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners ay maaari na ring magpatala nang in-person o digital (The enrollment will continue until Aug. 22, 2022. Note that we have three enrollment methods: in-person, remote, and dropbox enrollment. Our ALS learners may now also enroll in-person or digitally),” said DepEd.
While face-to-face enrollment is encouraged, DepEd highlighted the need to adhere to minimum public health standards such as wearing of masks and observing proper physical distancing to avoid the possible spread of Covid-19.
Classes for SY 2022-2023 will officially begin on Aug. 22. Blended learning, according to DepEd, may only be observed until Oct. 31 as public and private schools across the country were mandated to implement five-day in-person classes beginning Nov. 2.
