Marcos joins Ramos family in bidding farewell to FVR

Shortly after the inurnment ceremony for late former president Fidel V. Ramos started on Tuesday, Aug. 9, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. arrived at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City to personally bid his last farewell to the former leader.

Marcos arrived at the grave site after the final benediction for Ramos was said. He came alone.

Marcos was beside former first lady Amelita "Ming" Ramos during the entire funeral rites, leading government and military officials in paying tribute to the country's 12th president.

Marcos also stood beside the former first lady during the 21-gun salute tribute to FVR until the playing of FVR's favorite song "Maalaala Mo Kaya."

The President, who is a distant relative of FVR, was the one who handed over the Philippine flag to the former first lady.

He also led all government officials and military men in offering of flowers, wrapping the state funeral rites. He left the grave site after Mrs. Ramos addressed the guests.

Ramos was laid to rest at the “Section A Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines” between former presidents Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Elpidio Quirino.

Ramos died on July 31 at the age of 94.

He served as the country's president from 1992 to 1998. His funeral was the first state funeral the nation witnessed since 1997.
