Housewife, widow, gov't employee claim multi-million Lotto jackpot

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced on Tuesday, Aug. 9, that the sole winner of the Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot prize worth P401,186,804.80 already claimed her winnings at the PCSO Main building in Mandaluyong City on July 25.

She is a 34-year-old housewife from Iloilo province.

The game was drawn on July 9 with a winning combination of 02-18-49 -07-19-47.

"Sabi po ng asawa ko try ko daw po tumaya ng isa lang na lucky pick para maiba naman, kung swerte ka talaga mananalo ka kahit LP (My husband told me to bet in one Lucky Pick (LP) just for a change, if you are lucky you will definitely win in LP)," said the winner via PCSO.

It took the winner six years of trying before finally hitting the jackpot, PCSO said.

According to the winner, she plans on putting up a business in Iloilo as well as donating to church and charity institutions.

Meanwhile, a 72-year-old widow from Tanay, Rizal also bagged her winnings from Lotto 6/42 drawn on July 7 amounting to P17,419,093.40.

She was one of the two lucky jackpot winners of the said game. The lucky numbers were 09-10-42-08-13-41.

"Wala akong trabaho o di kaya ay pensyon man lang. Umaasa na lang ako sa aking mga anak. Tumanda na ako sa paglalaro ng lotto at di ko lubos akalain sa ganitong edad ko mapapanalunan ang jackpot. Bilin ko lang sa mga kapwa ko na tumatangkilik ng lotto ay wag sila mawalan ng pag asa, sa gabay ng Diyos at sa tamang pagkakataon di natin masasabi baka makamtan nyo rin ang inyong inaasam (I do not have a job or even pension. I am just relying on my relatives. I have already gotten old playing lotto and never expected that I will win the jackpot by this age. My advise to everyone who are patronizing lotto is to never lose hope, by the guidance of the Lord and on the right time you might get what you are hoping for)," the winner shared with PCSO on July 12 after claiming her check.

The other winner is a 49-year-old male civil servant from San Jose, Occidental Mindoro as per the PCSO.

He claimed his prize with the same amount of P17,419,093.40 on July 15 at the PCSO office.

"Every time na maiisip kong tumaya, di ako nagdadalawang-isip na pumunta agad sa lotto outlet para sumubok. (I do not have any second thoughts on going to lotto outlet whenever I think of betting becauce nobody really knows when will luck visit our lives)," he said in an interview with PCSO.

He shared that he and his wife will save the money for the meantime before planning on how to manage their newly claimed millions.

PCSO once again reminded the public that winners who will claim their prizes need to present the actual winning ticket with their name and signature on the back together with two valid government IDs for verification.

Winning not claimed within one year from the date of the draw shall be forfeited by Republic Act No.1169, PCSO said.

"Public is reminded that prizes above P10,000.00 are subject to 20% tax pursuant to TRAIN LAW," PCSO added.
