Obiena cleared the bar at 5.45 meters to finish behind eventual champion and world No. 1 Mondo Duplantis, who reset a new meet record of 5.80m.

Veteran Renaud Lavillenie of France bagged the silver with 5.70m while another Frenchman in Thibaut Collet claimed the bronze with 5.60m.

It was Obiena's second tournament in three days, having finished the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow, Poland with a bronze medal in 5.73m that is part of the prestigious Wanda Diamond League Meet.

Overall, Obiena has competed in eight outdoor tournaments since May, six of which he made it to the podium including a historic bronze medal at the World Athletics Championship in Eugene, Oregon late last month.
