Senator Cynthia Villar became the third victim of Covid-19 in the Senate in a span of one week.
Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri revealed this during the plenary session Tuesday, Aug. 9 of the 24-member Senate.
Villar, 72, still attended the session virtually.
Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva said the first two Covid-19 victims - Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Imee Marcos - have recovered.
Cayetano was the first to be officially recorded as Covid-19 victim last week in the current 19th Congress that opened last July 25.
On Aug. 8, Marcos reported that she was having a ‘’raging fever".
In a Viber message Tuesday, Cayetano said he is now ‘’Okay."
‘’Tinatapos ko na lang ang 1 week quarantine. Papasok na ako next week (I just finished a one-week quarantine. I will be at the Senate next week),’’ he said.
Cayetano emphasized that he would undergo another Covid-19 test Wednesday.
